Surf: Matara is rumoured to have a decent left, while there’s an equally fickle right at Dondra, but they both need some north in the wind and this is rare. Much further east are the legendary rights of Arugam Bay but guerrilla activity is a very real problem in that area, and surfers are advised to avoid the area.
