English Harbor surf guide
Surf: Along the southern edge of the main reef pass at English Harbor is a long fast left that breaks consistently from April to September on SW to SE swells. Can be world-class on itβs day, plus there are good rights across the channel on winter W-NW swells. Straight S swells for the left and due W for the right are very rare. Because of the consistent wave action at the pass and Whalers, the bottom is user friendly coral rubble strewn on flat reef, as opposed to jagged live coral common to so many other Pacific spots.
Environment: This is the wave that Chuck gave up his comfortable life on Tarawa to surf. Because transport links are so poor there will never be a crowd on this wave anytime soon.
