Evatra is a surf spot located about 15 km along the beach but requires a 2-hour drive northeast to reach the picturesque fishing village nestled at the top of the Baie de Galion. It's a spot that offers a left reef break at the rivermouth, primarily facing southwest and well protected from the northeast to east trade winds. While it can be appealing, accessing the waves is mostly done by boat with a guide due to its secluded nature, so it's not the easiest place to get to.
This spot really shines when the swells come in from the southwest but can handle southeast swells too. Even with swell sizes starting at about 2 feet (0.6 meters), it can deliver some decent waves for an intermediate surfer. The breaks happen over uneven reef, creating speedy bowls that can line up nicely. The best conditions come together with a northeast wind and work across all tide heights, whether it’s low, mid, or high.
Keep in mind that the conditions here can be a bit challenging due to strong currents and the possibility of larger marine life, so make sure you’re ready for that if you plan to paddle out. Overall, Evatra is a spot for those looking to connect with nature while enjoying a solid surf session.
