Manafiafy surf guide
Surf: North of Lokaro, rocky islets dot the coast around Sainte-Luce where there are various reef and beach options. Further afield there are many spots to discover but the big fish threat is real. The E coast, where the mountain range meets the Indian Ocean, records an average of 13 bites a year around Tamatave. The west coast around the Mozambique Channel is the home of the notorious Zambezi Shark (also known as the Bull Shark or Bronze Whaler) which likes to swim up rivers to forage. The west coast also has 700km (437mi) of offshore coral barriers, which limit the surf potential.
