Surf: Cabo Frio, the ‘cold cape’, gets consistent surf by a 1616 built fort, thus called Forte. It’s pretty urban so expect competitive crowds, when the SE swell gets in. There are empty waves all the way down the long arc of beach through Foguete and Pontal where there is also a left reef off the island. Environment: Pay to park in town or the big beach car park at Pontal in summer.
