Fulong Beach surf guide

Fulong Beach is a well-known surf spot located in the northern part of Taiwan. The beach has golden sands that face a large rivermouth, which can sometimes flood access points. It’s a popular spot, especially for beginners, due to the generally mild conditions. While it can get crowded, you'll often find surfers sharing the waves in a friendly atmosphere.

The surf at Fulong Beach is pretty variable. When the swell is small—around 1 ft (0.3 m)—you'll typically find weak and shifting peaks. However, things can get a bit more fun when the swell picks up to headhigh (around 2.5 m) or more, as the conditions can transform into decent walls worth riding. The beach offers both left and right waves, which break over sand. For the best experience, the optimal swell direction is from the Northeast, and it handles swells from the North and East pretty well. If the wind's coming from the SouthWest, it can enhance the surf quality, especially closer to the harbor wall.

Fulong Beach is suitable for various tide heights, including low, mid, and high tides, making it quite flexible for surfing plans. Beginners will feel comfortable here as the waves are generally manageable. Just be mindful of the crowded conditions, especially on weekends and holidays.
