Garywilliam Point surf guide
Garywilliam Point is a surf spot situated at the end of Fahamore. It features an exposed righthand reef that works best when the conditions align. This spot is somewhat fickle, so you’ll want to check the swells before heading out. It’s a spot that caters mainly to experienced surfers, as the waves can be pretty intense.
The optimal swell direction here is from the North, but it can also handle swells coming from the SouthWest and NorthWest. The best days will usually see swell sizes around 3ft (about 1 meter). The waves break over an uneven reef, providing a fast and hollow experience when conditions are right. You’ll want to catch it with a low tide and when the winds come from the SouthEast for the best ride. Keep in mind, though, that this wave can max out easily, so make sure you're up for it if you decide to paddle out.
Access to Garywilliam Point is straightforward. Just drive through Fahamore and park right on the point. It’s a convenient spot that allows for quick access to the waves. Because this wave can get critical, be sure to maintain proper surf etiquette and keep an eye on the lineup.
