Hazard Canyon surf guide

Surf: An extremely heavy, dangerous, and unforgiving righthand reef barrel replete with boils, suck-out ledges and wicked currents. The lefts are ridden, too, but are far less formidable. “The Canyon” can be the area’s best break when it’s on. Glory days are usually mid-winter, with overhead NW swell and SE storm wind. Experts only. Do not bring a crowd or your car (or face) will be thrashed. Unfriendly local crew. Environment: Located within beautiful Montana de Oro State Park. Park along the road amongst the eucalyptus groves beside an unmarked trail to the beach.
