Hilton is a surf spot located right in the heart of Tel Aviv, in front of one of the city’s most well-known hotels. It’s easy to access and popular among both locals and tourists. The vibe can be pretty busy, especially on weekends, as many surfers flock here to catch some waves. While it might not be the most exclusive surf venue around, it’s a good place to hang out and catch some rides.
The waves at Hilton can be decent depending on the swell. They usually favor a southwest swell, which creates A-frames that can be fun, especially when the conditions are clean. Beginners might find it suitable since the spot can handle smaller swells starting at about 1 ft (0.3 m). The reef can get a bit tricky and there’s some backwash to deal with, but it breaks both left and right, providing a little variety. When it gets bigger, the outside tends to break more powerfully, while the inside can turn mushy. Winds coming from the east are ideal here, and you can surf during low, mid, or high tide.
One thing to keep in mind is that it does get pretty crowded, so be prepared to share the waves with a lot of other surfers, particularly beginners. It’s a good spot to practice and improve your skills, but just be aware of the mixed level of surfers around. Enjoy the surf and have fun at Hilton!
