Indicators is a surf spot located in Cimaja, known for its outside pointbreak that attracts expert surfers. It’s not the most consistent spot, but when conditions align, it can offer some powerful waves. Surfers often paddle over from the main Cimaja lineup, especially when the swell is pumping. The environment can be uneven, with barnacle-encrusted boulders and urchins scattered across the reef, which can pose some challenges.
The waves here break right over an uneven reef, and it really shines on southwest swells. It can handle swell sizes around 5 ft (1.5 meters), making it ideal for more experienced surfers. The best time to catch good waves is during mid to high tides, particularly in the mornings before southeast winds pick up and disrupt the surf. For the best experience, a northwest wind direction is preferable.
Due to its inconsistent nature, Indicators is rarely crowded, so you might find some space to enjoy the surf. It’s definitely a place for those with the skills and confidence to tackle a solid setup, so make sure you’re prepared before heading out.
