L'Embarcadère surf guide
Surf: The most popular spot during stormy surf, with long mellow rides starting from the pier in La Tranche sur Mer. Big W swell with accompanying NW winds are needed to get this soft, playful right wall peeling down the shoreline so don't expect any summer action.
Access: Surfing is not allowed April to October.
It hardly breaks then anyway.
Environment: Lot's of confrontation between Surfrider chapter and local council who illegally tried to build a wave-destroying breakwater to protect the fleet of pleasure boats moored in the bay of Maupas. The fact that it’s never too big, always easy to surf and has the option of walking back to the peak ensures record crowds.
