La Fitenia surf guide

La Fitenia is located to the south of the main Las Americas breaks, where the coastline makes a turn. It's a spot known for its flat section of reef that comes alive under the right conditions. When there's a decent southern swell, it can deliver some fun waves that cater to various skill levels. Although the crowd often swells during good conditions, it can be a great place for both intermediate surfers looking to improve and seasoned surfers wanting to enjoy mellow sessions.

This spot works best when there’s a swell from the south or a bit from the southeast or southwest, handling sizes from about 1 meter (3 ft) to 3 meters (10 ft). You’ll find both lefts and rights here, especially when a solid peak runs through, creating long, wrapping walls. Conditions are generally mellow, making it a fun spot for shortboards, funboards, SUPs, fish, longboards, and bodyboards alike. It’s good to note that the spot works on all tides, whether low, mid, or high. The preferable wind direction is from the north, which typically helps shape up the waves nicely.

The access to La Fitenia is pretty straightforward, with parking available right by the break. However, the walkout over the sharp rocks can be tricky, so watch your step. This spot can get crowded, particularly when the waves are firing, so it’s best to keep a friendly attitude and follow surf etiquette to enjoy your time in the water. The best season to surf here falls between October and March, when conditions are often optimal.
