Las Galletas surf guide

Las Galletas is a surf spot located right next to the harbour wall, making it easy to access. It tends to attract a lot of surfers, especially in spring and summer when the swells come in. While it’s a popular choice, it can get a bit crowded since it’s one of the few surf spots nearby. The area has a relaxed vibe, but be prepared to share the waves with fellow surfers.

This spot generally works best with south-facing swells and it can handle swell sizes from about 2ft (0.6m) up. The waves break over an uneven reef, offering both lefts and rights, which is great for different riding styles. Beginners will find it manageable with mellow, easy walls that are perfect for longboarders and bodyboarders. However, keep in mind that when the swell picks up and gets overhead, the waves can pack a bit more punch. Low tide is usually the best time to catch the lefts, but watch out for rocks that can pop up closer to the inside.

The preferred wind direction for Las Galletas is from the northeast, which helps keep the waves clean. This spot can be surfed at low, mid, and high tides, making it pretty versatile throughout the day. Just remember, the combination of the wave conditions and the crowd can mean competition for waves, so it’s good to stay aware and be respectful out there.
