Overview
Lamone is a river-mouth break that peels over sand where the Lamone meets the sea. Several peaks form on both sides of the river, so you get a choice of lefts and rights.
When It Works
Lamone is the most consistent spot in the area, picking up the most swell and coming alive on northeast, east and southeast swells. It draws swell from northeast through east-southeast to south (NE-ESE-S), with southeast (SE) the best match. The break is usable from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft.
Wind and Tide
Look for southwest (SW) offshore wind. It can work through most of the tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
The wave is forgiving enough for beginners, and it draws a crowd when it turns on. Over on the south side there is a fun left to hunt down, but watch out for a dangerously placed pole in the way.
Access
Lamone sits 10 km north of Ravenna at Marina Romea, easily reached on route SS 309, which links Ravenna to Venice. There is free roadside parking nearby. Keep in mind the water quality can turn variable after rain.
