Larache is a surf spot located on the northern coast of Morocco, near the town of Larache. It offers a mix of surf conditions that can appeal to intermediate surfers looking to catch some waves. The area is known for its scenic backdrop and the nearby Lixus ruins, making it a nice place to chill after a surf session. You’ll find the main break near the harbour jetty, which sets up a few good left-handers.
The waves here generally perform best with a west swell, but you can also get some action with swells from the north. The surfable conditions handle sizes from around 1 ft (0.3 m) and break over uneven reef and sand. Mid tide tends to be the sweet spot for getting good waves, although be aware that the currents can be a bit rippy at times. Aim for east winds when you're planning your session, and keep in mind that this spot is better suited for intermediate surfers, as the waves can catch you off guard if you’re not used to the conditions.
Besides surfing, there's not much else specifically for surfers at Larache. It's a pretty laid-back spot where you can enjoy some decent rides, but don't expect a high-energy surf culture. It’s a good place to work on your skills without too many distractions.
