Maasvlakte P5, also known as In Betweens or P5, is a surf spot that faces WSW and needs a decent swell to really show its potential. This place can handle strong NW winds better than many other spots in the Netherlands, but if the winds are coming from the N-NE, you’re in for a treat. The waves get clean and hollow, making it a good choice when conditions are right. Just keep in mind that strong currents can be an issue here, especially at Bel’s and In Betweens, where the breaks can be a bit on the shallow side.
The optimal swell direction for Maasvlakte P5 is from the North, but it can also work with swells from the West and Northeast. It can handle swell sizes starting from around 1 ft (0.3 m), which is great for beginners looking to catch some waves. The waves here break over sand and can offer both left and right wave directions. Mid to high tides are preferable for better conditions, so plan your sessions accordingly.
Parking can be tricky, especially on busy days, as space is limited at both Bel’s and In Betweens. Also, remember that overnight camping isn’t allowed here, so be mindful of local regulations to avoid any fines.
