Maeda surf guide

Maeda is a surf spot located down a set of 100m (300ft) cliffs. It offers access to some decent waves, but it’s not the most consistent place around. It’s definitely more of an intermediate spot, so it’s best suited for those who have some experience. The area is also known for good fishing and diving if you’re into that when the surf isn’t working.

The waves at Maeda can be fun, breaking over live coral and offering both left and right rides. This spot works best with a north swell direction and can handle swell sizes around 2ft (0.6m) to keep things manageable. Mid to high tide is preferable here, and you’ll want a southeast wind to make the conditions a bit nicer. If you’re hunting for waves that aren’t overly challenging yet have a bit of variety, Maeda is worth checking out.

While Maeda isn’t the most accessible spot, if you can get down there, you might find a few less crowded waves to ride. Just be mindful of the waves and coral, and make sure you have your skills down before paddling out.
