Mamba Beach surf guide

Mamba Beach is located just south of the city beaches and is near the Mamba Point Hotel and the Sweden Embassy. This spot sits on the SSW-facing coast and generally offers a mix of waves that can be fun but might also get a bit chaotic in the afternoons due to onshore winds. It’s easily accessible and gives surfers a place to catch some decent breaks without having to go too far from town.

This beach break works best with swells coming from the SouthWest, South, or West, with optimal swell sizes around 1 to 2 feet (0.3 to 0.6 meters). You can find waves breaking over sand, and both left and right waves are common here. The ideal conditions usually come when the wind is blowing from the Northeast, and it’s worth noting that Mamba Beach can handle low, mid, and high tide, making it pretty versatile for different surfing abilities. It’s a good spot for beginners looking to practice without the pressure of more advanced waves.

Keep an eye out for some scattered rocks and the occasional beach logs while you’re out there. If Mamba Beach is not working out, a short 20-minute drive south can take you to Fisher’s Point, which generally handles larger swells better and offers some solid lefts. If the surf is flat around Mamba, Lusama Beach can be another option worth checking out.
