Overview
Mananget is a grey-sand beachbreak on a south-facing stretch of coast, breaking both left and right. When the banks line up, the rides can stretch out long.
When It Works
Facing south, Mananget comes into its own with summer swells. It draws swell from southwest through north to northeast, and southwest swell is the best match. The waves break over sand and are usable from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft. Expect moderately consistent conditions, so it pays to catch it when the sandbanks and swell come together.
Wind and Tide
Look for northeast offshore wind to clean things up. The beachbreak can work through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is a friendly spot for beginners, and the lineup tends to stay fairly quiet.

Head for Mananget and base yourself at the Don Juan Resort, which faces the beach.
