My Khe is a beach located around 6km outside of Da Nang, Vietnam. It's part of a larger stretch of beach that includes Non Nuoc, China Beach, and Cua Dai. This area is naturally beautiful, with the lush Marble Mountains providing a stunning backdrop. However, surfers looking for consistent, high-quality waves might find My Khe and its neighboring beaches to be just okay.
The surf at My Khe can be a mixed bag. It typically breaks over soft sand, handling swell sizes from around 0.3 meters (1 ft) to about 2.4 meters (8 ft). The best swell direction is from the Northeast, but it can also work with North and East swells. When a solid Northeast swell hits, you might find some decent, tapered waves that can peel left and right. Most of the time, however, the waves tend to be a bit disorganized and choppy, which might disappoint some surfers. The beach is generally good for beginners, especially with low, mid, and high tide being suitable for catching waves.
Getting to My Khe is pretty straightforward; just cross the Han River via the Nguyen Van Troi Bridge. Remember that the best wind direction for surfing here is from the West. While My Khe offers some fun surf days, it may not stack up against more famous spots. It's great for a casual surf session, especially when conditions align.
