P.V. Martin's is a sand-bottom beach break named for the restaurant that overlooks it, sitting a couple of miles south of the St. Lucie County line and a few miles north of Ft. Pierce Inlet's North Jetty. It's a modest, no-frills setup that throws both rights and lefts, and the water is usually very clean.
When It Works
The break draws swell from north-northeast through east (NNE-E) and is usable from 0.9 m / 3 ft to 3 m / 10 ft. It comes into its own across autumn, winter, and spring.
Wind and Tide
Look for west-southwest (WSW) offshore wind, with a workable wind window running from south through west-southwest to northwest (S-WSW-NW). It breaks on low and mid tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This one suits intermediate and expert surfers on a shortboard. The lineup stays quiet and can feel a little reserved. Keep in mind this is bull shark territory, so if it doesn't look or feel right, don't paddle out.
