P.V. Martin's surf guide

P.V. Martin's is a surf spot located about two miles south of the St. Lucie County line, and three miles north of Ft. Pierce Inlet's North Jetty. It's named after the restaurant that overlooks the break. The area has some interesting breaks, but it doesn’t get too crowded. You'll find this spot driving south on A1A, and while some breaks are rumored to be hidden behind gated communities, P.V. Martin's is the next confirmed surf spot after eight miles. Access is easy, making it a convenient choice for surfers looking for a chill session away from the more crowded spots.

When it comes to surfing here, you can expect waves ranging from chest high to overhead (about 1 to 3 meters). The best time to catch the waves is on low tide, especially when the northeast to east-northeast swells come in. P.V. Martin's handles swell sizes from about 3 feet to 10 feet (1 to 3 meters), breaking over a sandy bottom, which makes it ideal for both right and left waves. The wind is best coming from the south to south-southwest, while the spot caters mainly to intermediate and expert surfers looking to ride shortboards.

The crowd factor at P.V. Martin's is pretty nice since it tends to be uncrowded, and the local vibe is fairly mellow. You’ll usually find the environment quite clean, adding to the overall pleasant experience of surfing here. Just one thing to keep in mind: this area does have bull sharks, so if something feels off, it’s best to stay out of the water.
