Overview
Pantai Kelulut is a sand-bottomed beachbreak, one of a run of mellow, mostly empty peaks that stretch south all the way down to Kuala Abang. It's an average setup on a fairly plain piece of coast, so come here for the space and the easy waves rather than anything standout.
When It Works
The bank pulls in swell from north to east (N-E), and it's at its best on a northeast (NE) swell. Peaks break both left and right, and the spot is usable from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.2 m / 4 ft. It can be somewhat inconsistent, so it pays to catch it when the swell lines up.
Wind and Tide
Look for southwest (SW) offshore wind to clean things up. It works through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is a friendly place to learn, with gentle beachbreak peaks and plenty of room to spread out. Expect a fairly quiet lineup even when it's working.
