Passe de Boulari - Lighthouse is a surf spot located about 45 minutes from Nouméa. It’s one of the more accessible spots in the area, but you still need to plan your trip well to maximize your time in the water. The spot can be busy, especially during the peak surf season, so be prepared to share the waves with other surfers.
The north side of Passe de Boulari offers an edgy righthander that works best with a good dose of southwest swell and north winds. You can expect the waves to handle sizes around 3 ft (about 1 meter) and can race down the line for around 100 meters when the conditions align. Keep in mind that it gets super-shallow on the inside, which can be tricky. The reef break is not for beginners, so you'll want to have some solid skills before paddling out. Mid to high tide is recommended for the best experience, so plan your sessions accordingly.
Overall, it’s an expert-level spot that requires experience and caution. Be mindful of the quick-changing conditions, and try to get out early before the trades kick in, or you might miss out on some decent waves. Enjoy the ride!
