Pegasus Bay surf guide

Surf: The 50km sandy sweep of Pegasus Bay starts with a 4WD access left point called Fossils and extends south through multiple beachbreaks at Amberley, Leithfield, Waikuku and Pines, before the shifting Waimakariri Rivermouth bars attract surfers to the low tide lefts and rights and fishermen to the whitebait. Tides for the beaches depend on size - small swell will struggle to break at high and vice-versa. Environment: River brings cold muddy water to the rivermouth peaks, best accessed from the north side town of Kaiapoi.
