Piege a Sable surf guide

Piege à Sable, also known as Le Phare, is a surf spot that’s often overlooked but has its charm. Located in a somewhat remote area, reaching this place involves navigating through a military zone, which can be time-consuming. For easier access, many surfers prefer to hop on a small boat or jet ski.

This spot is best when the swell is coming from the SouthWest and can handle swells from about 1 ft (0.3 m) upwards. The waves here break over sand, creating a point break that mostly goes to the left. The ideal conditions are typically encountered with a Southeast wind, making it a good option for intermediate surfers. Depending on the tide, Piege à Sable works at low, mid, and high levels, but the best rides often come when the swell is pumping.

When the swell gets big, the spot can produce some hollow and fast waves, which can be a blast for experienced riders, though the currents can get strong. Keep in mind there's another section that really comes alive when the swell is huge, so be ready for that if you're there on a bigger day.
