Playa del Socorro is a NW-facing beach located in a rocky setting. It’s known for its dark sand and rocky bottom, making it a unique spot for surfers. The beach can get quite crowded during the summer months, but it generally offers surfable waves throughout the year. The beach provides easy parking right on the beachfront, although it tends to fill up quickly.

This spot picks up swells from the North, Northwest, and even Northeast, handling sizes from about 2ft to 6ft (0.6m to 1.8m). When the swell is smaller, you can find some mellow, fun peaks, making it suitable for beginners. However, when the conditions ramp up, the waves become more powerful and hollow, delivering thrilling rights and lefts. It's best to surf at mid-tide, though it can work at low and high tides too. Be cautious of the strong rips, especially when the waves reach overhead height.

The preferred wind direction is Southeast, which helps to create cleaner conditions. The bottom is rocky with some sandy areas, and it can be a challenge to paddle out when the waves are bigger. Various board types like shortboards, funboards, fish, longboards, SUPs, and bodyboards can all work here. The local vibe can be a bit competitive, particularly when the waves are good, so be prepared for that when you're out in the water.
