Pointe Leydé surf guide

Pointe Leydé, also known as Roches Blanches, is a surf spot located near Treboul in France. It's a place that attracts surfers looking for a more challenging experience. While it's known for its left-hand waves, be prepared for the rocky take-off that can be tricky, especially for those less experienced. The area can get really crowded, so keep that in mind if you’re looking for a more chill session.

This spot works best with a swell coming from the NorthWest or SouthWest and can handle swell sizes starting at around 2 ft (0.6 m). The waves break over uneven reef, and the point setup can create some long, spinning walls when conditions are right. Low and mid tides are preferable for catching the better waves. Keep an eye on the weather, as a strong SW storm can bring in solid swell and make for some fun sessions, although it’s mostly suited for expert surfers due to the challenging nature of the waves.

When it comes to the locals, they can be pretty intense about their waves, and you might face some competition in the water, especially on good days. If you decide to freecamp in the carparks around Douarnenez, be cautious, as you might get ticketed in the summer months. Just keep these things in mind while you're out there, and you'll have a better chance of enjoying your time at Pointe Leydé.
