Punta Tur is tucked away a bit further along the Bayovar headland. This spot offers a left-hand wave that breaks further off the shore compared to Nonura. While it can serve up some long rides, be prepared for how quickly the wave peels, often splitting the ride into different sections. It can pack a punch, especially when the conditions line up with a solid 10ft (3 meters) SW swell, ESE winds, and a low incoming tide. On those days, Punta Tur might just remind you of some spots in Indonesia.
When it comes to surfing here, the optimal swell direction is Southwest, but it can also work with swells from the South and Northwest. The spot can handle swell sizes starting at 4ft (1.2 meters), and you’ll want to keep in mind that it breaks over uneven reef and sand. The waves are primarily point breaks that go left, making it a good choice for left-handers. Ideal wind directions are east, while the tide can be anything from low to high. Just a heads up, it's suitable for expert surfers only since the currents can be quite strong.
This area is pretty basic when it comes to camping, so expect sand to creep into everything. The journey here usually requires a 4x4, and it’s not the busiest spot, so pack extra water, food, fuel, and be ready for some flat tires. It’s not consistent, can get blown out, and generally calls for surfers who are fast and confident. Be sure to respect the pristine environment and keep it clean.
