More about Queen's surfspot

General: Right in the heart of Waikiki, on small to medium-sized days Queen's offers a fun but shorter left and a longer right, usually split evenly by a single A-frame peak. On bigger days, the wave turns into a long left -- one of the best on the South Shore, actually -- and a shorter right. This wave can barrel at times, but usually it is just an easy, rippable face. Tides: Medium Size: Head high-2X overhead Wind: Calm or offshore from NW to E, with NE straight offshore. Swell: Anything from the SE to SW, but usually from the S to SW. Bottom: Reef Paddling: Long paddles to and from beach, but not bad once you're out there. Spot Rating: Typically mellow and user-friendly, but when it comes together with a solid swell, Queen's can be one of the best waves on the South Shore -- with predominantly a left, but also a shorter right.

All levels, but depends on size. Usually better for avid to advanced surfers.

Easy. Park in/near Kuhio Beach Park.

Summer. From around April through October.

Crowd Factor: All the spots through Waikiki are pretty much always crowded all the time. Local Vibe: Can get intense as it always has a crowd, especially when it's inconsistent. Expect to get dropped-in on, many times, even locals get dropped in on or share.

Clean for the most part, but most of Hawaii's population lives on the South Shore of Oahu. Tons of people.

Reef, large crowds, boards. Many first-timers that get in the way.
