Ramla Surf Forecast Guide

Overview

Ramla is Gozo's main beach and the island's stand-out beach break, working over sand with both lefts and rights on offer.

When It Works

It draws swell from northwest through north to southeast (NW-N-SE), with northwest the best match. A decent northwest swell sends lefts peeling down the beach, while a northeast swell is what brings the rights to life. It can also scratch into small windswell all the way round to the southeast. Expect it to work from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft. It can be somewhat inconsistent, so it takes the right swell to switch on.

Wind and Tide

Look for offshore wind out of the south. It can work through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.

Local Tips

A friendly spot for beginners, and the lineup usually stays fairly quiet. Keep in mind that Roman sea defence ruins lurk in the line-up, and on a big day it's worth watching the current as you paddle back out.

Access

There's a car park with free parking, along with roadside parking nearby.
