Roche Percée surf guide

Roche Percée is a laid-back surf spot located near Bourail. It’s mostly known for its one paddle-accessible area at the Nera rivermouth, situated in the southern corner of Roche Percée beach. The vibe here is pretty relaxed, making it a decent choice for families and surfers looking for a chill day at the beach, though it can get a bit crowded on weekends.

The surf here works best with southwest swells, but you might also find decent waves coming from the south and west. It can handle swell sizes around 2 feet (about 0.6 meters), which is ideal for beginners looking to catch their first waves. The break is on sand and offers both left and right waves, though it’s generally soft and forgiving, especially on low to mid tide. As the tide comes in, it can start to close out on the beach, so timing your surf is key. In terms of wind, an east direction is preferable for better conditions.

This spot is definitely suited for beginners and even stands up paddleboarding (SUP) enthusiasts. Just keep in mind that when the swell picks up, the more experienced surfers might want to take turns and have fun out there too.
