Overview
S' Archittu is a long right-hand point that reels over an uneven, sharp reef, with the occasional left thrown in too. It comes alive in solid southwest storms, and on the best days its three sections link up for rides of up to 700 metres. That final section is the most powerful part of the wave.
When It Works
The point draws swell from the southwest through the northwest, with northwest (NW) the best match, so it's tuned to those solid SW storm swells and keeps its shape even under strong onshore wind. It's usable from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 3 m / 10 ft, handling everything from smaller days up to serious size when all three sections start to connect.
Wind and Tide
Look for east (E) offshore wind. The reef can work through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is an intermediate-friendly wave when it's on.
Access
From Oristano, follow the SS 292 north toward Cuglieri; the road passes right above the break. Parking is free and roadside. Paddle out and come back in front of the Is Benas Surf Club, and mind the sharp rock bottom and sea urchins. Currents get strong on big, windy days.
