Sewers is a surf spot located on Vancouver Island, known for its unique name that comes from a defunct sewage pipe. It’s a place where the waves can really pack a punch, making it suitable mainly for experienced surfers. The locals are pretty protective of their waves, so be prepared for a bit of localism if you decide to surf here.
The spot works best with a NorthWest swell direction and is able to handle swell sizes of around 3 feet (about 0.9 meters). It’s got a mix of boulders and sand, with waves that break over reefs. The waves mainly roll in from the right and are usually best with a NorthEast wind. For tide heights, you can find decent waves during low, mid, or high tides. Just remember, this spot is really for expert surfers who know what they’re doing out there.
While you're at Sewers, make sure you're paying attention to the conditions, as it can get hollow and fast. If you're looking for something different, there are other spots further inside the Strait that can work on bigger swells. Just keep in mind that Southeast winds can mess up most breaks in the area.
