Tamarind surf guide

Tamarind is a surf spot located just a walk over the hill from El Remanso. It's known for its unique setting and offers a mix of waves suitable for surfers looking for something different. This spot doesn't draw huge crowds, making it a decent option for those who are willing to put in a bit more effort to find some waves.

The surf at Tamarind is generally better at lower swells of about 1 to 2 meters (3 to 6 feet). The best swell direction is from the west, but it can still work with south and southwest swells. It breaks over an uneven reef and sandy bottom, which can lead to some tricky sections. Most of the waves break to the right, and you can catch some decent rides, though they might be a bit sectiony on average days. You’ll find that the tide doesn't matter too much here; you can surf during low, mid, and high tides, but the waves are usually best with a northeast wind, making for cleaner conditions.

This spot is ideal for intermediate surfers looking to challenge themselves. Keep in mind that while Tamarind has its moments, don't expect it to be a standout spot every session—the conditions can vary, and it's always good to check before heading out. Just make sure to bring your gear and be respectful of the local environment!
