Overview
Ujung Genteng Harbour is a heavy left-hand reef break on the southwest tip of Ujung Genteng National Park. Huge, intimidating lefts sweep around the reef and peel along the entrance to the harbour channel, over a dead coral bottom.
When It Works
The reef draws swell from southeast through south, and south (S) is the direction you want, because it keeps the wall connected instead of letting the wave section off mercilessly. West swell turns it sketchy. It works from 1.2 m / 4 ft to 3.7 m / 12 ft, and it breaks consistently enough to be worth keeping on your list.
Wind and Tide
Look for east (E) offshore wind. Mid and high tide are both in play, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is an expert's wave. Confident surfers who take it on at the higher tides will find barrels. The lineup stays fairly quiet.
