Westfalia surf guide

Westfalia is a surf spot located along a stretch of beachbreaks en-route to Cahuita. This area is known for its average but consistent wave conditions, making it a decent spot for surfers looking for fun waves. With about 60km of coast, you’ll find some sandbanks that are often deserted, offering a bit of solitude away from the more crowded spots. While it may not be the most exciting location, it's reliable enough to get in a few solid sessions.

The surf at Westfalia works best with a NorthEast swell and can handle sizes starting from about 1ft (0.3 meters). You’ll get beach breaks that can form left and right waves, which is nice for different riding angles. Ideal wind direction is from the Southwest, and you can surf it pretty comfortably at low, mid, or high tide. However, be mindful that when the waves get over 4-5ft (1.2-1.5 meters), it can tend to close out, which may not be the best for those looking for a clean ride.

This spot is beginner-friendly, so it's a good place for those just starting out in surfing. However, keep an eye out for potential shark and crocodile sightings around the rivermouths nearby, just to be on the safe side. Enjoy your time at Westfalia, and make sure to check the conditions before heading out!
