Yport surf guide

Yport is a laid-back surf spot located in Normandy, France. It offers a decent wave setup that is less crowded than nearby locations like Etretat. The access is straightforward, with easy parking right in front of the break. The environment is characterized by a rocky bottom and a small cliff known as Pointe de Chicard, which helps to keep the waves glassy when the south-west winds blow.

The surf at Yport generally works best with a west swell, but it can also handle swells coming from the north-east. The waves here typically start rolling in around 1 ft (0.3 m) and can peak larger on good days. Most of the action is on left-handers that break over boulders, making it suitable for intermediate surfers, especially at mid to high tides. On bigger days, there’s a chance to catch some smaller rights inside the bay, but the main draw is those longer lefts that wrap around nicely.

One thing to be mindful of is the rip current that flows towards Fécamp, so be cautious if you're unfamiliar with the area. The overall vibe is pretty chill, and you might find yourself enjoying a less hectic line-up compared to more popular spots.
