30th Street in Ship Bottom is a surf spot that offers a straight beachbreak. It's a decent place for summertime surfing, although keep in mind that there are surfing restrictions that can come into play. The location tends to attract a lot of local surfers, especially younger ones, since they often don’t have cars to explore further away spots.
The surf here works best with a north-east swell, but it can also handle waves from the south. Most of the time, it can break with swell sizes starting from about 2 feet (0.6 meters), hitting both left and right. The waves break over sand, which makes it easier for beginners to get their feet wet. The best wind direction is from the west, and low to mid tide is usually the sweet spot for catching some fun waves.
As for the crowds, they're generally average, so you won't feel completely overwhelmed. Just remember, tags are required for surfing here, and while there’s free parking, don’t expect any facilities nearby.
