Harvey Cedars surf guide

Surf: From Barnegat Lighthouse state Park through Loveladies, Harvey Cedars, and on to Northbeach, this stretch is home to a good percentage of Long Beach Island’s heavy beachbreaks. A good NE or SE swell will come out of deep water and slam on the bar at lower tides. Sand-dredging, wide-open barrels created along a 4mi (6.5km) stretch of groynes make for a punishing paddle-out, particularly in winter. Environment: The power of the surf is the main hazard, along with some rips around the groynes. Rarely crowded because there is always another jetty just as good up or down the beach. Citations for towel-changing in the roadside residential parking area.
