Overview
Acquabella is an A-frame reef that peels just across the railway, throwing up a long, slow left alongside a shorter, more intense right. It breaks over uneven reef, and the water is clean.
When It Works
The peak draws swell from north to northeast (N-NE), with northeast (NE) the direction that lines it up best. It's usable from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft.
Wind and Tide
Look for north (N) offshore wind to groom it, though it will still break under northeast onshore winds. The reef works through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This one suits intermediate surfers, and the lineup tends to stay quiet.
Access
From Ortona harbour, follow route SS 16 and keep going about 2 km uphill, then turn left onto the only concrete road (in front of the electric vehicles shop) and park before the little village. Parking is free and roadside.
