Surf: Aramoana can throw square barrels when NE swells are greeted by S-SW winds, but this doesn't happen very often. It's usually average peaks from the spit up to the rocky breaks at midway and gets bigger in front of the colourful, volcanic cliffs at the north end. Works on all tides and SW winds. The jetty provides easy entry for experts when big. Environment: Seals and sharks present. Sometimes crowded but usually plenty of space.
