Avalanche is a surf spot located just off Yaquina Head in Newport. It features an outside sandbar and a reef setup, making it a unique place to catch waves. The waves at Avalanche break over uneven reef and sand, offering both left and right-hand waves depending on the conditions. For the best experience, east winds and mid-tide heights are ideal, but remember, this spot is best suited for expert surfers only.
