Avalanche at St Francis Bay is a surf spot located at the north end of Pollock Beach, right in the middle of Summerstrand. It’s known to attract a solid crowd, especially when the waves are firing. The area offers all the necessary beach facilities, making it convenient for surfers looking to spend a day on the water.

This spot works best with south-east swells, but you can also catch decent waves from east and south-west directions. It handles swell sizes around 3 ft (about 0.9 meters) and breaks over a mix of rock ledge and sand. The waves here are primarily reef breaks with right-hand direction, which can be fun for intermediate surfers. When the tide is low, mid, or high, you might find something worth riding, but the best sessions usually happen with a keen eye on the conditions, especially with south-west winds.
