Surf: Fortaleza has many breaks but most of them are badly polluted and crowded, especially with bodyboards. Barra do Ceara’s polluted peaks break right beside the rivermouth and rarely have the quality to outweigh the risk. Environment: Portuguese sailors first landed here in 1603.
