Black Point Beach (Sea Ranch) surf guide
Surf: Spew $3 to the county for parking before you strut the quarter-mile to this spot, a NW-facing beachbreak known for its power and shape during the wintertime S winds. A good place to check if the swell is small and clean, or if you enjoy taking leisurely strolls along wild flower-studded bluff tops.
Somewhat consistent with a low crowd factor.
Surf: General: Black Point is a fickle beachbreak along the 10-mile-long, 5,200-acre Sea Ranch subdivision. Since Black Point itself extends west, its surfable side is offshore during SE wind and it often gets good with smaller swells during the winter. It can hold some size, but getting out is no small task. The place can and does get hollow, especially during SE wind. A good place to check when the swell is too small for the other spots in the area.
