Mystos is a craggy righthand reef located near the Fort Ross Reef Campground. It’s a spot that can handle S swells and is usually best at higher tides. While it might not be the most consistent place to hit, it can surprise you on those days when the S swell rolls in. There's definitely potential here for some good rides, especially if conditions align just right. However, you might find yourself sharing the waves with a few other surfers since it doesn’t quite hold a crowd well.
This wave is primarily for the more experienced surfers. It tends to work best with S or N swells and can handle swell sizes around 4 ft (about 1.2 meters). When the conditions are right, expect a fun right-breaking reef wave. The best wind direction is from the NE, and it works fine during both mid and high tide. Just keep in mind that finding those perfect days can be hit or miss, so check the forecast before you go.
Since it's not a consistent surf spot, it's worth keeping an eye on the conditions and being ready to make the trip when the S swell is showing promise. Like many reefs, it may be sensitive to changes, so always be prepared and know your limits as an expert surfer.
