Surf: On the north side of Mangamaunu, Blue Duck Stream provides enough sand for the waves to keep breaking right through the high tide, but it will probably be a bit fat. Directions: Blue Duck is located just north of Mangamaunu at the Blue Duck Stream, north of Kaikoura. From Kaikoura Drive north on State Highway 1 for about 20mins. Continue just past Mangamaunu to the Blue Duck Stream, and turn left onto Blue Duck Valley Road to park. Cross the railway tracks to the beach. Environment: Iron Gate has a bit more NE protection but can't handle the higher tides.
