Bungalows surf guide
Surf: General: Bungalows is located inside the Perdido Key State Recreation Area off State Road 292 at the far end of the park. Bordered on the west by Alabama and on the east by Pensacola Bay, Perdido Key is part of the Gulf Islands National Seashore and is the first of many barrier islands protecting the Gulf of Florida.Like most Panhandle beaches, the Key is primarily a tourist destination, however, it also holds some good surf. Perdido is easily accessible by driving west from Pensacola on Hwy 272 or east on Hwy 161 from Gulf Shores, Alabama. Prevailing current is east to west, so the out-flushing water from Pensacola Bay can make for murkier waters, but there are miles of unspoiled beaches to surf and more than a few legitimate breaks. To find Bungalows, use the East beach access, park and follow the boardwalk to the beach. Bungalows is a middle-to-inside beachbreak with a fast, hollow inside.
