Cap Requin surf guide

Cap Requin is a surf spot that has its own vibe, located near the highway, making it pretty easy to spot. It’s named after its “sharky” reputation, which is something to keep in mind, especially since there are some other breaks nearby that have had their fair share of incidents. The overall atmosphere here is laid-back, but it’s a place where you definitely want to be aware of what’s happening around you.

This spot works best with swells coming from the SouthWest and can handle sizes up to about 1.2 meters (4 feet). When the conditions align, you’ll be riding left waves that break over live coral, which can offer some fun rides. For the waves to be decent, you’re looking at mid to high tide with Southeast winds to keep things nice and groomed. It’s definitely more suited for intermediate surfers who are comfortable with reef breaks and want to challenge themselves a bit.

While you’re out there, just remember that Cap Requin can be a bit temperamental. It’s best hit when the swell is moderate, and although it has its good days, you may encounter inconsistent surf at times. Keeping an eye on the tide and wind can really help in scoring a better session.
